Here are some of the academies participating at Dubai Sports World 2017
IFA Football Academy
International Football Academy (IFA) returns to DSW 2017. IFA coaches more children in more places than any other academy in the region by helping children develop their football skills in a fun and positive environment. The Academy’s 5-day camps allow players to learn about the different areas of the game under one roof through the guidance and coaching of the experienced UEFA-qualified coaching team. Open for youth from 4 – 16 years of age, each day of the camp focuses on a different aspect of football, and players then have the chance to test their skills in structured mini-tournaments.
Running from 22nd June to 27th August, the summer camps are open to boys and girls of all abilities, aged between 4-16 years old and take place every Sunday – Thursday.
Half-day single rates are AED 125 per day or AED 500 for a full week of half-day sessions. Full day rates are AED 200 per day or AED 750 for the week.
After a successful, trophy-laden career at some of Europe’s leading clubs, two-time African Footballer of the Year winner Frederic Kanoute has turned his attention to the next generation. Kanoute’s KAFO Academy offers young footballers who are serious about the ‘Beautiful Game’ the chance to learn amazing skills through a team of highly-qualified and experienced coaches. Players can learn tricks to dizzy opponents at KAFO’s Skills Workshop and challenge themselves with fun, technique-based assessments.
With a wide variety of programmes on offer, each session is jam-packed with drills, themed directional practices and small-sided games delivered by highly-qualified coaches with experience in European football leagues. The Frederic Kanoute himself also pops in to coach players on key aspects of the game including passing, ball manipulation, turning, shooting, dribbling, attack and defense skills, as well as positioning, possession and phases of play.
Juventus Academy Dubai
Juventus Academy Dubai aims to help young footballers take their first steps into the football world by educating them with the Juventus model, known as one of the best in the world and followed in over 80 countries. The academy offers the best in professional European coaching programmes for boys and girls aged 4 to 17 years of age.
Rates start at AED 600 per month for a single weekly session. Two weekly sessions are priced at AED 800, and three times a week for AED 1,000.
G Force Cricket Academy
G Force Cricket Academy returns once again for another exciting year at Dubai Sports World. The star-studded sessions feature former West Indies captain, Jimmy Adams – the ambassador this year – and other visiting celebrities who will be sharing their winning tips, tricks and lessons. Young cricketers, ages 7 to 14, can improve their bowling action, batting technique and develop the mental and physical strength required to survive at a competitive level.
Committed to providing a fun-packed schedule of indoor tennis coaching, the highly qualified Tennis 360 team will be at DSW 2017 throughout the summer. With a broad range of age-specific programmes starting for 3-year-olds and above, Tennis 360 caters to all ages and abilities and aims to develop movement, tennis specific skills, mental conditioning, good nutrition and an overall love for the game.
Running from Sundays to Thursdays from 9am to 5pm, the summer schedule at DSW includes junior camps to keep children entertained throughout the school holidays, and the new Summer Slim Down programme for adults.
Prices for individual semi-private classes start from AED 125.
Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy
Once again this year, DSW welcomes Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy, the first and only pro-wrestling academy in the UAE to prepare future champions in wrestling. With Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy, youth will have the chance to learn pro wrestling in a fun and safe environment with some of the best industry coaches, who have trained with or wrestled against some of the biggest names in the business. They will show aspiring wrestlers how to properly apply, escape, and reverse specific holds and maneuvers. Safety is a primary priority, and learning safety techniques is key under the supervision of the academy’s well-experienced team. Classes are open for children age 5 and older.
Zayed Abbas Tennis Academy (ZATA)
For the first time at Dubai Sports World, in partnership with Zayed Abbas Tennis Academy (ZATA), a member of Dubai SME, DSW visitors can now play Padel indoors during the summer season. Padel is best described as a combination of Tennis and Squash, played in a glass court with racquets and balls as a doubles game. It has its own rules and point system and is regulated by the International Federation of Padel and governed locally by the UAE Padel Association.Perfect for all ages, men and women. This is a great way to get fit, have fun and try something new. Bookings can be made on an hourly basis to play with one’s own group or with one of ZATA’s professional trainers.
Rage will be bringing an indoor skate park to DSW again this year. Skaters and BMX riders will find everything from Rails, Grind boxes and Ramps to ensure a summer of fun-filled action. Rage has something for all skill levels.
Daily passes for the skate park are priced at AED 30, or visitors can opt for a season pass for AED 500. For those looking to sharpen their skills through the Rage Academy, a single lesson can be booked for AED 150, 5 lessons for AED 650 or a pack of 10 lessons for AED 1,250.
Fitness 360, one of the UAE’s leading Health Club chains will be managing the on-site, free of charge Gym this year. Focusing on fitness through a change in lifestyle, Fitness 360 will provide a range of work out options depending on individual goals. Fitness 360 will also provide onsite staff to ensure visitors use machines correctly and get the most of their time at DSW 2017.
Visitors can also enroll in one of Fitness 360’s dedicated 6-week training schedules (Fit 360) or take individual classes. Fitness 360 also offers group workouts, including Zumba, Pilates, Circuit Training or programmes like Les Mills or Mossa. Whatever the fitness level, there is no better time to get in to shape.
Shuttle Time Dubai
DSW 2017 offers a staggering 12 Badminton courts this year, more than any previous edition. Among the most popular at DSW, these courts are brought to DSW as part of a wide-ranging Badminton World Federation (BWF) grassroots initiative, called Shuttle Time Dubai, which is led by Dubai Sports Council.
Hourly rates start as low as AED 25. All measuring 13.4m x 6.1m with professional rubber mats provided by Yonex, DSW courts ensure maximum performance and fun. Badminton courts book fast. Advanced booking is advised either online, via telephone or through the reception desks at the venue.
Just Play Sports Camp
Geared toward the younger audiences and for the first time at DSW, Just Play Sports Camp offers children activities across the sports arena, supervised by qualified coaches ensuring a safe environment for all.
Children in various age groups can enjoy fun games and sports challenges like trampolining, football, gymnastics, volleyball, table tennis, dodgeball, yoga, tag rugby, dance and more. Each participant can also take on the all-new Ninja Warrior assault course.
Prices start at AED 195 for a single day, AED 525 for 3 days and AED 745 for 5 days. A 10% discount for siblings is available.
DSW offers the public a range of free options, including access to its facilities, a 545-meter indoor running track and a state-of-the-art gym equipped by Technogym and operated by Fitness 360. Visitors are encouraged to leverage onsite fitness machine coaching. Through DSW’s partnership with Ping Pong Dubai, the community is welcome to enjoy free use of 12 tables throughout the summer. Table tennis is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
