LEADING ACADEMIES SPRINT INTO ACTION THIS SUMMER AT DUBAI SPORTS WORLD

Officially inaugurated today by His Excellency Saeed Mohamed Hareb, General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council, the 7th edition of Dubai Sports World (DSW), organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), is set to offer a variety of thrilling sports by leading global academies – all under one roof throughout the summer.

Speaking at the special launch ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Centre today, His Excellency Saeed Mohamed Hareb, General Secretary, Dubai Sports Council, said: “Over the years, Dubai Sports World has grown to become synonymous with fitness and summer in Dubai. We are delighted to be a long-term partner of this unique community health platform as it aligns with the efforts of the Dubai Sports Council to progress, encourage and enhance sports in the emirate.”

Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President – Venues, Dubai World Trade Centre said, “Our goal is not only to offer training and development courses for popular sports but also to expand our summer offerings by bringing new, unique sports to Dubai Sports World. Promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports is a key area of focus each summer, and we’ve built on it further this year through the support of our incredible new and returning academy partners.”

DSW, the region’s largest indoor summer sports arena, is an ideal venue to keep residents fit and active every summer as it brings to the community, over 10 leading sports academies that will thrill and engage youth of all ages and skill levels. Open until September 2nd, DSW’s line-up of academies covers a multitude of sports including football, cricket, tennis, wrestling, Padel and much more.

An exciting addition to DSW 2017 is the fun summer camps run by Just Play Sports Camp. Children of all ages can enjoy games and sports challenges including an all-new Trampoline Park, a challenging Ninja Warrior assault course, football, volleyball, gymnastics, table tennis, dodgeball, yoga, tag rugby, dance and more.

Anouar Idrissi, CEO of Just Play Sports Academy LLC said, “We are delighted to have partnered with Dubai Sports World for the next three years, allowing us to bring brand-new sports and entertainment activities to the Dubai community and the wider world. Both children and adults will love our 5,400 square foot trampoline park, and we have also brought over the latest in virtual sports simulators for some fun challenges against our super keeper or legends of cricket. We also look forward to seeing how people will fare on our Ninja Warrior course, and perhaps try and win a trip to Miami.”

Also new to DSW this year is Juventus Academy Dubai, offering the best in professional European football coaching for boys and girls between the ages of 4 to 17. Juventus Academy Dubai aims to help young footballers take their first steps into the world of football by educating them with the Juventus model, followed in over 80 countries and known as one of the best in the world.

Zayed Abbas Tennis Academy (ZATA) also joins DSW’s roster of leading academies, offering padel enthusiasts the opportunity to play in a custom-built glass court. Sports lovers looking to try something new while staying fit can book the padel court on an hourly basis to play with friends or one of ZATA’s professional trainers.

DSW welcomes returning football academies: International Football Academy (IFA), offering 5-day camps and open for youth aged 4 to 16 years, and KAFO Academy, providing youth a wide variety of programmes where sessions are jam-packed with drills, themed directional practices, and small-sided games delivered by highly-qualified coaches with experience in European football leagues.

In addition, cricket enthusiasts will enjoy learning from the best with returning G-Force Cricket Academy. With an exhilarating schedule of professional coaching clinics, tournaments and celebrity sessions, G Force Cricket Academy will offer lessons to improve form and develop the mental and physical attributes required for the competitive sport.

Big baseliner hitters can be a part of nail-biting matches too as Tennis 360 returns to DSW this year. Committed to providing a fun-packed schedule of indoor tennis coaching, the highly qualified Tennis 360 team will be at DSW throughout the summer with a broad range of age-specific programmes starting for 3-year-olds and above. It also offers a Summer Slim Down programme for adults.

The popular, purpose-built Skate & BMX Park by Rage also makes a back with an array of Rails, Grind Boxes, Fun Boxes and Ramps designed to bring the best out of both, beginners and seasoned skaters.

Badminton lovers can ensure maximum performance and fun as Shuttle Time Dubai brings 12 courts to DSW. Jaffer Ebrahim, Dubai Badminton Development Manager said, “This is the fourth year that Shuttle Time Dubai has participated in Dubai Sports World, and we are delighted that badminton is consistently the most popular sport taking part. In response to the overwhelming demand, we have expanded from six courts to twelve, as we welcome players of all ages and abilities. The highlight of the badminton schedule at DSW is the annual Club Championships which attracts hundreds of keen players who compete for the title over five weeks of thrilling competition. We are looking forward to another great year at DSW.”

A hit last year, Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy also returns to DSW this year. It is the first and only pro-wrestling academy in the UAE to prepare future champions in wrestling. With Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy, youth will have the chance to learn pro wrestling in a fun and safe environment with some of the best industry coaches.

DSW is offering a range of free options, including access to the venue, use of a 545-meter indoor running track and a state-of-the-art gym equipped by Technogym and operated by Fitness 360. Through DSW’s partnership with Ping Pong Dubai, table tennis enthusiasts are also welcome to enjoy free use of 12 tables throughout the summer.
